The ABRSM Grade 1 Music Theory Online Practice Exam is available for all students to try out the mock paper, anytime, anywhere, and any number of times. If you prefer to work with paper and pen, the sample Paper is available for download as a pdf.

While you have the choice to try the online practice exam as what it’s like in the exam, or as a pdf copy, I strongly encourage anyone taking the online music theory exam to at least try the digital format available on the ABRSM website, to have a feel of how to answer the questions during the actual exam.

Where to find the Grade 1 Music Theory Sample Paper (2020):

The Grade 1 Music Theory Sample Paper can be found at the ABRSM website here. There’s both the “pdf” format, as well as the format that mimics the actual exam. Do try the latter. I have highlighted where to go to to try the online practice paper:

Seven sections of the Grade 1 ABRSM Online Music Theory Exam

There are seven sections in the grade 1 ABRSM Online music theory exam. They are:

(3) Keys and scales

(4) Intervals

(5) Tonic triads

(6) Terms and signs
